4/29: Perlite Mine Hike

This is where we find the "Apache Tears" wept by the squaws when their braves leapt off the mountain known as Apache Leap, rather than be captured or killed by the US Cavalry. We usually spend most of our time searching for Apache Tears, a black rock with a translucent area. This time I looked up "Perlite" to see why it was mined. Perlite expands from 4x to 20x its original volume when heated, so there are several uses for it, including insulation, potting soil, and industrial filler.
